Résumé
Larry Lapinsky, apprenti comédien, a réussi à échapper à une mère possessive et s'installe à Greenwich Village. Il a des copains et une petite amie, de l'humour et de l'ambition, et fait bientôt carrière à Hollywood.
Commentaire
Avec brio et tendresse, Mazursky narre diverses anecdotes, décousues et probablement autobiographiques, d'une certaine jeunesse new-yorkaise. À travers la vie quotidienne d'Américains moyens, à peine marginaux, il dépeint le stress, les désarrois et gamineries d'une jeunesse qui ne se prend pas vraiment au sérieux. C'est très frais, très drôle, et assez nostalgique: la vie ne vous mène pas toujours où vous auriez voulu.
